Clearsonic A5-6 drum screen

General

The panels of this screen are connected to one another. Thanks to its handy 'accordion' design, it can be set up in about thirty seconds by placing it on its end and folding the panels out. The panels are 0.25" thick, 2 feet wide and 5.5 feet high. This particular drum screen has six linked panels, making it suitable for an average-sized drum kit. Every panel has a rounded edge, allowing room for power or microphone cables.

Sometimes, an acoustic shield is necessary to achieve a well-balanced sound. ClearSonic screens prevent your drum sounds from being picked up by other instruments' microphones. That way, sound engineers are able to create a representative mix, and all musicians can hear themselves well. In a practical sense, the ClearSonic screens are used in a variety of situations, like with live orchestra to shield the drummer from the strings, for example, or in the studio, to prevent mic bleed. The screens aren't only excellent for drums, but can be used to isolate other sound sources as well.

Acoustics

Drum screens offer a means of changing the acoustics of a room. They also solve problems like mic bleed. Have all your issues been solved? Unfortunately, that's not the case. The direct sound is deflected by the screen, but these audio vibrations have to go somewhere, either upwards or backwards. As such, they can produce a slight delay, which is perceived by your audience as a cacophony of sound. To solve that problem, ClearSonic has developed the Sorber sound-absorbing panels ideal in combination with the A5 panels.
