QSC's TouchMix-8 might be a compact unit, but thanks to its comprehensive software, it actually offers the same flexibility as a large console. You can control the faders, settings and functions of the eight-channel TouchMix using the highly accurate touch screen. Simple Mode puts you in charge of the basic functions, which is sufficient for most situations while Advanced Mode gives you power over more parameters, including the many effects, channel routing and groups.
This mixer features a considerable number of effects, including a four-band parametric equalizer with variable high and low-pass filters, and compression for each input. Four effects engines offer high-quality, professional effects and if you don't quite have the time to program the effects yourself, not to worry, the Effects Wizard will help you out, while the GainWizard keeps track of the input levels and warns you when clipping occurs. You're also treated to a long list of presets for various instruments, microphones, and speaker systems.
The TouchMix-8 can be used in full stand-alone mode - no computer, monitor, or other external device is required. Its large colour display can be controlled via physical rotary knobs and buttons but you can also use the Remote Control App for iOS on up to 12 iOS devices at once, while the included USB WiFi adapter takes care of the connection between the TouchMix-8 and your mobile device. Live recordings, of up to 14 simultaneous tracks, can be stored (via USB 3.0) on an external hard drive, in 32-bit broadcast wave format. The TouchMix-8 comes with a matching carrying bag. All in all, this is a highly efficient yet powerful all-in-one mixer by QSC.
