General

The Casio Celviano AP-700 is a chic-looking digital piano that looks just as great in your living room as it does on stage. Operating the piano is easy, as a central display keeps you up to date on information such as selected sound. You'll need it, for the AP-700 has plenty to choose from! Its keyboard features various playing modes. First of all, there's the layer mode, which allows you to layer two different sounds. Then there's the split mode, which divides the keyboard into two parts and enables you to pick a sound for each side. You'll be able to play bass and piano, for instance, at the same time! Finally, the piano's duet mode is perfect for piano lessons, as it divides the keyboard into two halves with the same tonal range. That means teacher and students can sit and play side by side.

Characteristics of the Casio Celviano AP-700

If you want to invest in a decent instrument, sound is an essential factor, of course. Casio has got you covered there, by means of their AiR technology, which takes factors such as resonance into account. When you strike a key on an acoustic piano, the other strings resonate along, for instance, and the AP-700 is capable of emulating that effect. The digital piano's touch response is equally impressive. For as long as most people remember, there have been 128 steps, but this Casio model boasts an amazing 16,000. Just imagine the level of detail!

Additional possibilities

When your friends and family hear that you (are learning how to) play the piano, they are likely to want to hear you perform. Conveniently, this Casio digital piano is equipped with an audio recorder that allows you to record your playing, including effects, in CD quality. Using your computer, turning those recordings into a nice mix album is a piece of cake. An instrument like the AP-700 is a great asset if you're taking piano lessons. In addition to the aforementioned duet mode, the piano features two headphone connectors: one for the teacher and one for the student. Compared to a real piano, this digital model is quite lightweight, which is perfect if you want to move it into your bedroom. You wouldn't dream of hauling an acoustic model up the stairs, would you? Basically, you can take the AP-700 with you to any room, so you can play and practise headphone-free without bothering your family or flatmates.
