General

Many pianists dream of one day owning their own grand piano. It’s kind of the holy grail of pianos, mostly because of its daunting price tags. Luckily, the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-709GP PWH digital piano in Polished White offers a compromise. It offers a gorgeous concert piano sound, and hundreds more - such as strings and brass instruments - while remaining much more attainable, budget-wise, than a real grand piano would be. It’s even loaded with a large variety of backing styles that play along with everything you play.

CVP-709GP PWH: top of the range

While it offers you an absolute wealth of options and features, the Clavinova isn’t particularly hard to operate. Most of the features are accessible through the comfortably large colour display. This touch-sensitive screen has an 8.5-inch diagonal, giving this digital piano a sleek and modern look. If you play the CVP-709GP with your eyes closed, you’d swear you were sitting at a real grand piano, that’s how good the keys are. Those who prefer playing over the speakers rather then putting on headphones will be very pleased with the seven speakers that Yamaha fitted into this model’s housing. They allow for a massive, rich sound that is sure to keep you coming back for more.

Piano Room and USB

A particularly inspiring feature of the CVP-700 series' pianos is the Piano Room. This is home to not only top-quality grand piano sounds, but also to various classic electric pianos, as well as the Session Mode. The latter mode has three virtual musicians standing by to accompany you 'live' in one of forty available styles. Besides your harmonies, they also follow your volume and intensity, thanks to the Dynamics Control feature. Do you want to record your playing? No problem! Connect a USB stick, and everything will be stored in WAV file format. You can also play back WAV files, and even adjust their tempo and pitch.
