Kurzweil is already a veteran. 'The brand was at the forefront of many developments around synthesisers in the vintage 1980s, and many producers at the time had a Kurzweil in their studio. All the better that home users can get their hands on an affordable digital piano from this mighty Kurzweil: the KAE1. It is a keyboard only, so for the home, an undercarriage is recommended. Unless, of course, you live a bit smaller and want to keep such a piano somewhere after use (under the bed, on its side next to the cupboard, etc.), in which case such a separate keyboard is again very handy. Another advantage of a separate keyboard is that you can easily take it on the road. Perhaps you are a choral conductor who brings your own piano for accompaniment.

Features of the Kurzweil KAE1

As we often see with digital pianos, there is a modest range of sounds. Since the 1980s, this appears to be a set formula: a few pianos, a few e.pianos, clavichord, harpsichord, strings, organ, guitar and bass. All perfectly usable, and can be spiced up with reverb, chorus and a small equaliser. Layering, split, duo, these are also features found in most digital pianos these days (so also in the KAE1), as well as a modest recorder.
