General

Originally, the preludes and fugues from 'The Well-Tempered Clavier' by Johann Sebastian Bach were published in two parts. This particular songbook from G. Schirmer's Library combines all parts into one songbook consisting of 24 preludes and 24 fugues; one for each major and minor key. Each piece includes handy finger placement. With these works, Bach's tried to emphasise the character of each scale. Bach originally wrote these works for the harpsichord.
