Carl Czerny is known for his pedagogical, and often technically challenging pieces. 'The School of Velocity' contains exercises for the more experienced pianist who wants to improve his or her touch technique.

Carl Czerny: The School of Velocity Op. 299

Carl Czerny was an Austrian composer who lived at the beginning of the nineteenth century. He was taught by not the least of these; he studied with Beethoven, Clementi, Hummel and Salieri, among others. Czerny himself was also a gifted teacher; Franz Liszt was one of his pupils. Czerny's music tends towards the style of the Viennese Classics, but sometimes has clear influences of romanticism; probably because of his friendship with Frederic Chopin.
