The Roland GP-6 digital piano offers more than just astonishingly authentic sound but comes built into an astonishingly convincing and more slimmed down take on a baby-grand-style cabinet. Designed to put the full and genuine experience of an acoustic baby grand as well as the more versatile and consistent sound of a digital piano in the home of any pianist, this luxurious model comes wrapped in classic high-gloss black.
The Roland GP-6 Piano
When it comes to digital pianos, Roland have managed to single-handedly establish a physical modelling tradition, so the GP-6 already boast's Roland's Reality Modeling Premium Sound Engine. This progressive emulation technique doesn't just accurately mimic the sound of a piano, but accurately simulates the mechanics and resonance of a real piano. And this is where the real difference lies. Rather than contending with the often sterile sound of sampled piano sounds, this model makes complex calculation in response to your playing, meaning that the sound is literally generated in real-time. The process takes every detail into account, including the vibration of the virtual strings inside the virtual cabinet.
Extra Perks
Besides accurately modelled piano sounds, this digital piano has also been loaded with a full library of over 300 other sounds which, while sample-based, have been produced to the highest standard Roland has to offer. Various temperaments, effects and a full-sized Piano Reality Hybrid Premium Keyboard complete with adjustable velocity sensitivity have all been included as well, alongside two headphone outputs to support silent and more private duets or lessons; recording functions that can be used in combination with the Roland Piano app for Android and iOS; a USB memory port and a second USB port for direct connection to a computer.

Wrote the following about Roland GP-6-PE Digital Grand Piano (Black High-Gloss)
Mijn vrouw vond het maar niks dat ik moest stoppen en heeft mij aangespoord om toch nog eens rond te kijken naar wat anders. Misschien dat er een piano is waar je wel tegen kunt, zei ze. Ik ben toen proefspelen op andere modellen bij een winkel in de buurt en vond daar één model waar ik geen last van had. Maar die bleek qua techniek erg karig te zijn.
Een digitale vleugel, dat leek mij wel wat. Een mens mag dromen, toch? Zou dat wat zijn? In de winkel van Bax Music in Apeldoorn kon ik terecht om de nieuwe Roland GP6 PE uit te proberen. Da's fijn, dacht ik, dan ga ik daar eens mijn oor te luisteren leggen. Dus er naartoe gereden en ter plekke nog even een handje geholpen met het assembleren. Daarna was het "playing time" en vrijwel meteen voelde de vleugel als vertrouwd. Fijne bediening, fantastische aanslag en geweldig geluid. Ik heb er tot sluitingstijd op gespeeld zonder ook maar ergens last van te hebben. Dus de kogel was door de kerk en nu staat hij in mijn woonkamer. Een prachtig instrument om te zien en om op te spelen en qua formaat precies goed.
PS: Nog een bedankje aan Martijn van filliaal Apeldoorn en uiteraard de rest van het personeel dat ik daar de GP6 zo uitgebreid kon testen.
