General
The LX700 Series from Roland boasts an ingenious method of sound reproduction. While most digital pianos simply playback samples as you strike the keys, this range of pianos has an entirely fresh approach offered by the PureAcoustic Modeling Technology on board. The sound of an acoustic grand piano is digitally recreated in real-time, as you play and in minute detail. As such, the attack of hammers on strings and the resonance of the soundbox can be heard. Further enhanced by Hammer Action PHD-50 keyboard and three expression pedals, this piano not only gives you the same sound but the same playing feel as that of a grand piano. The LX705 may be the most affordable model in the LX700 series but comes with the same sound technology, a more compact housing than other models and a slightly different keyboard and smaller speaker system. This version has a Charcoal Black finish.

The detailed Modelling technology makes sure that every high-quality sound is acutely sensitive to your playing dynamics, so the LX705 will sound as expressive as your playing. And, this coupled with the Progessive Damper Action design of the included pedals to provide the authentic, reactive feel of the best acoustic pianos. Play the sounds of European and American grand pianos with unlimited polyphony and add ambient effects that replicate specific spaces like a tight studio, wide concert hall or immense cathedral. The LX705 comes with a total of 324 sounds built-in, including electric pianos, organs and orchestral sounds.
Superb Audio Quality
The LX705 is amplified by a four-speaker system that's been split into two pairs to deliver realistic audio reproduction that's packed with detail in both the highest and lowest registers, shaping impeccable note resonance. This level of sound quality can also be used to play back music using the fitted mini-jack socket, or cable-free using the integrated Bluetooth module and a Bluetooth capable device, or simply using a USB stick. For silent practice, there's a headphone output, and for computer connection, the LX705 also includes a USB-B port. Lastly, there's the Roland Piano app which you can download to help you monitor your progress and stay motivated.

Het geluid van de concertvleugels, door modeling, is echt wel heel goed en het fijne is dat je het helemaal kan vormen in de piano designer app (en op de piano zelf maar dat duurt wat langer). Inclusief de mate waarin je de hamers hoort, de toetsen klank, het resoneren van het klankbord als je het pedaal wat enthousiast in trapt etc. Op de koptelefoon heb ik andere instellingen dan op de speakers en dan is het handig dat je ze kan opslaan. De overige geluiden, samples, zijn goed en in overvloed aanwezig, de upright pianoklanken zijn echter snel gedempt met het pedaal ingedrukt. Het uitklinken van de snaren is dan niet genoeg te horen. Als piano dus eigenlijk onbruikbaar, maar goed, alles in die sectie gebruik je m.i. toch maar af en toe, voor piano spelen zijn de aanwezige vleugels qua modeling prachtig. Leuk zijn de Hanon begeleidingen die je kan meespelen en vooral ook qua tempo kunt aanpassen. Oefenen en lesmethoden aan boord zijn ook leuk, alleen heb ik daar zelf niet veel mee.
De feel van het klavier vind ik aan de stroperige kant, ik hoop dat dat nog wat “inslijt” het speelt echter prettig en met wisselen tussen dit instrument en de vleugel waar ik een aantal keren per maand op kan spelen ondervind ik geen problemen qua wennen aan het klavier.
Qua looks, het charcoal zwart blijkt in het echt veel minder goedkoop dan het op de verkoopplaatjes oogt en er zijn verscheidene mensen die het voor echte piano aan zagen. Het belangrijkste, qua model, vind ik dat het niet lijkt alsof er een “urgeltje” in de woonkamer staat en daarin is Roland wel geslaagd.
Het is geen echte piano, maar voor oefenen is het echt geweldig en je schaamt je, op zijn zachtst gezegd, echt niet voor wat er uit komt.
Ik speel er met plezier op en zou het, nu ik de ervaring heb, zéker weer kopen.
