If you thought that Ibanez couldn't surpass its world-famous green overdrive, you were wrong. With the Ibanez TS808DX you don't only get the original Tube Screamer Overdrive Pro, but this stompbox also has a built-in booster. Guitarists really should not miss this effect pedal on their pedalboard!
Functions of the Ibanez TS808DX
Just like the TS808 and any other Ibanez Tube Screamer, this TS808DX also has overdrive, tone and level control. This allows you to adapt the overdrive from a subtle edge to a nice vintage shredding sound. New to the pedal is the fourth knob, a boost function to spike up your signal. The Ibanez TS808DX can be powered via a 9V battery or a 9VDC adapter, both optional. A switch on the back allows you to change from 9V to 18V for more punch and headroom.
Boost: pre/post overdrive
By means of a mini switch you can engage the boost function before or after the overdrive (pre or post-overdrive). Post-overdrive is perfect for making the signal louder, if you want to emphasise clean solos, for instance. In this setting, your amplifier will have to work harder so you get a quicker distortion. The pre-overdrive sends a louder signal into the overdrive so that the pedal will overdrive even more. Ideal for creamy leads.
