General
Kitted out with an LM308 chip, the tight Mooer Black Secret Distortion pedal supplies two classic, Rat-style distortion flavours but at a fraction of the price. In Vintage mode, you gain the sweet, medium-to-high-gain distortion you would get from a retro Rat and, as soon as you shift into Turbo mode, some fire-breathing, ultra-high-gain is unleashed. Packing some traditional and modern might into one slim little pedal, this might be the most fierce yet space-saving distortion of all time.
Control:
Like most distortion stompboxes, the Black Secret keeps the controls simple. The single True Bypass footswitch toggles the effect on and off while the mini-switch at the top of the control panel flips between the Vintage and Turbo modes. Via the Level mini-pot on the left, the output level is set and via the Filter mini-pot on the right, you can shape the tone of your distortion and dial in anything from a classic and sharp Rat-style character, to something more flowing and organic. But don't be fooled - this is no subtle overdrive, but an in-your-face, shred-worthy little distortion box.
The Mooer Micro Series
Mooer have steadily and ambitiously built a firm reputation for offering musicians great, far-reaching and far-ranging gear at a great price. Each of the renowned Micro Series pedals takes up very little of your precious pedalboard space, and there are 40 different deliciously flavoured effects to choose from, including modulation, equalisation, distortion and reverb. Even legends like John Cale of the Velvet Underground have given these plucky and potent little pedals their stamp of approval.
