General
Native Instruments' Traktor Kontrol S8 is a comprehensive DJ controller that will totally change your way of working. The mid section of the controller offers a four-channel mixer with faders and a crossfader with an adjustable curve. The mixer can be used as a stand-alone device, and its four inputs are located on the rear of the controller. Two full-colour displays, touch strips and eight full-size performance pads per channel have replaced the traditional jog wheels. No fewer than 30 touch-sensitive knobs and faders allow for intuitive software control, and Traktor Scratch Pro 2 is included so you use the controller in combination with your turntables and timecode vinyl.
The Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S8: Colour Displays
Two full-colour displays - with practical features such as browse view, beatgrid view, FX panel, remix view, freeze view and various performance panels - provide you with all the information you need, just like your software would. These pop-up displays give you visual feedback and tell you what you need to know when you're adjusting the BPM rate or applying filters, for instance. As all the software information can be viewed on the displays, you can keep your laptop out of sight, which not only enhances your interaction with your audience, but also allows for a more intuitive way of control.
Touch Strip and Pads
The touch strips of the Traktor Kontrol S8 play an important role, as they enable you to accurately determine track position, apply needle drops, control pitch bend, change effect parameters and more. Combined with a range of touch-sensitive knobs, they open up a world of creative possibilities - think of loop rolls and one-finger filter control, for example. The controller's two decks are capable of controlling two decks in your Traktor DJ software each, and you can use the eight pads to trigger samples, effects and your own loops, or even to create and trigger cues.

Voor mij de volle 5 sterren!!!

Mooi solide apparaat, een aanrader voor diegene die meer wil dan "alleen maar" tracks aan elkaar knopen.
De Stems en remix deks zorgen ervoor dat je set volledig in eigen stijl vormgegeven kan worden.
Laptop / computer hoef je niet in de buurt te hebben, de displays volstaan ruimschoots.
Klein minpuntje :
Na installatie op Win10 van de bijgeleverde software en autoupdates werkte de S8 slechts deels, de displays bleven het Traktor logo tonen.
NI-Support reageerde binnen 20 minuten op mijn supportticket met de download instructies voor een andere driver.
Na de handmatige installatie van deze driver werkte alles als een zonnetje.

Bij het aansluiten de nodige problemen gehad met mijn windows-laptop i.v.m videokaarten.
In een laptop met meerdere videokaarten is het dus even een kriem om alles werkend te krijgen.
Overigens dit jaar een macbook pro gekocht waar de installatie binnen een kwartiertje voltooid was.
De touchpads i.p.v jogwheels wennen snel en ik mis de jogwheels helemaal niet.
Schermpjes zijn mooi en zorgen ervoor dat ik nauwelijks meer op mijn laptop hoef te kijken onder het draaien.
De s8 is perfect afgestemd op het gebruik met stems en remix-decks en het is erg makkelijk en leuk om hiermee te spelen. Als deze files door meer producers omarmd wordt kan het alleen maar beter worden.
De controller werkt ook zonder laptop goed als mixer wat het makkelijk maakt om van laptop (en dj) te wisselen zonder ongemakkelijke stiltes.
Kortom een geweldig apparaat met alles in Traktor binnen handbereik.
De controller zelf verdient eigenlijk een 5e ster maar dit blijft nog even uit voor mij omdat de verkrijgbaarheid van muziek specifiek voor de revolutionaire features in Traktor als remix decks en stems nog erg beperkt is en eigenlijk alleen binnen de techno wereld écht een meerwaarde heeft.

De Traktor S8 is echt een pracht van een DJ controller. Hij werkt naadloos samen met de software Traktor Pro 2, en weet dan ook het best gebruik te maken van alle functies in de software. De controller heeft zelfs 2 schermen waarmee je verschillende parameters van de software kunt overzien, je hebt echter nog wel een laptop nodig om deze schermen + de software aan te sturen. Dit betekent echter niet dat je nog de hele tijd naar de laptop hoeft te staren. Ikzelf zet mijn laptop altijd aan de kant als ik draai, want de Traktor S8 toont alle informatie die ik nodig heb om een strakke mix neer te kunnen zetten. Uiteraard heeft de Traktor S8 nog een tal van andere mogelijkheden, maar die kun je ook lezen in de productinformatie op deze pagina.
Samengevat is de Traktor S8 een echte aanrader!
