General
Pioneer shows us what they can do with the DDJ-RZ. You couldn't dream of a more extensive controller that has just about everything a DJ would want. Besides that, this controller is completely compatible with the new Rekordbox DJ software, Pioneer's very first fully-fledged DJ software. The two work seamlessly together and have the lowest latency rate in the DJ-world at the moment. In addition, the DDJ-RZ is equipped with the highest quality hardware, including Magvel Crossfaders, P-Lock fader caps and Pioneer's own Magnetic contact-free faders.
Quality and User-friendliness
The DDJ-RZ is arranged as we've come to expect from Pioneer. The big jog wheels and needle search remind us of the CDJ2000 Nexus, and the Mixer section is reminiscent of the popular DJM 900 Nexus. Every button is lit for greater ease of use, and is situated on this device, in an effort to emulate the Rekordbox software, as closely as possible, which is not only practical, it also makes this brand spanking new Pioneer product a real eye-catcher!
DDJ-RZ or DDJ-SZ?
While the DDJ-SZ is developed for use with Serato, the DDJ-RZ is specifically designed to work with the newly developed Rekordbox Software. Seeing as Pioneer constantly strives for an optimal user experience, some effects were modified, like the replacement of the Roll function with 'Pad FX', and 'Space' has taken the place of 'Echo'. Thanks to the Quantise function, known from such Pioneer gear as the CDJ2000, you'll never miss a beat! To top it all off, they've even included an entire sequencer per deck!

Op alle feesten heb ik hem moet afkoppelen om mijn oude DDJ-SX aan te sluiten die nog steeds perfect werkt.
Als ze deze controller de mogelijkheid geven om compatibel te worden met VDJ of Serato is het een prachtig toestel.

De pioneer DDJ RZ is een prima apparaat. De prijs is aan de hoge kant en hij voelt niet zo stevig als bijvoorbeeld de Numark NS7 III. Ik had voor het geld wel wat mooiere filter knoppen bijvoorbeeld gehad, deze voelen beetje goedkoop aan. Zo vind ik de horn/sirene sound wel erg corny en niet gepast voor een professioneel apparaat. Gelukkige kan je deze sound zelf wel aanpassen nu. De mogelijkheid om nu met Rekordbox te werken is te gek alleen rekordbox is met de 4.0 versie nog niet waar het moet zijn. Regelmatig crasht het programma op verschillende Mac Computers (wat met zulk software niet zou mogen natuurlijk). Voor live gebruik kan ik dan ook niemand deze controller/software op dit moment nog aanraden, maar ik verwacht wel dat dit in nabije toekomst opgelost gaat worden.
Wat ik ook nog een gemis vind is dat je niet op de ene computer in Rekordbox 4.0 een USB stick kan voorbereiden om vervolgens in te pluggen op een andere computer met Rekordbox 4.0 om een playlist daarvan af te lezen in de performance mode (in de export mode kan dat wel gewoon). Ik hoop wel dat ze dit snel mogelijk gaan maken.
Het verschil met serato is op dit moment vooral ook de mogelijkheid om de fx-en via de pads te kunnen activeren wat echt een top functie is!! Helaas is dit nog niet zo gemaakt dat je dit met velocity kan beïnvloeden (mogelijk komt dit nog in een update). De pioneer FX's zijn ook meer EDM gericht.
De enige serieuze professionele concurrent van de Pioneer DJJ SZ en RZ is de Numark NS7III . De bouwkwaliteit van deze controller is beter en de schermtjes maken dat je niet telkens zo suf op een laptop hoeft te kijken. Maar dan moet je wel op Serato willen werken waarmee je wel een stabieler software hebt maar niet alle voordelen van Rekordbox.

They're quite a novelty, as they are Pioneer's first DJ controllers that work with the company's very own Rekordbox DJ software. By the looks of it, the main inspiration for the DDJ-RZ was Pioneer's top-segment DDJ-SZ DJ controller, while the DDJ-RX has been modelled after the DDJ-SX. Thanks to similar formats and layouts, transitioning from the SZ or SX to the RZ or RX will be a breeze!
