General
The Rane Twelve is for DJs who want all the advantages of a traditional direct-drive turntable combined with the precision and durability of the best digital-based solutions. That means you can scratch to your heart's content without having to worry about skipping tone arms or damaging the stylus because there is no tone arm or stylus! Instead, they've been replaced by a precision, multi-function touch strip that is used to search through tracks and set and trigger hot cues. The size and layout of the Rane Twelve are the same as a standard turntable with the controller featuring a special high-precision 12-inch motorised platter. It can be connected to a computer or the Rane Seventy-Two Battle Mixer via its MIDI interface and is Serato DJ OSA ready.
Controls
Directly below the touch strip are four buttons that allow you to select and control one of up to four decks in Serato DJ. On the other side, there's a precision pitch slider, pitch range select controls (8, 16 and 50%) and a motor-off switch for traditional wind-down effects. There are 33 1/3 and 45 RPM selection knobs and on the rear a knob that allows you to adjust the torque of the direct-drive motor. The Rane Twelve has an extremely-robust steel housing that looks very stylish too.

The first version was completely black, but Rane have now equipped it with a white acrylic platter, which is not only an optical improvement, it sounds better too!
