The Daslight DVC Fun is a controller that translates signals from the Daslight 4 software package into DMX signals that your lighting fixtures can understand. As the entry-level model, the Fun has access to 128 DMX channels, but it can be upgraded if the need arises. That way, your controller can grow along with your increasing need for more channels. So even if you expand your light show, you can still keep using the DVC Fun.

Daslight 4: the software

This is already the fourth generation of this very popular software package. It's been completely overhauled, and now features a library of over 15,000 fixtures, a completely new FX engine and integrated smartphone and tablet control. As such, it allows for a great, comprehensive way of controlling your lights during live performances or shows. You can create the entire light show from the comfort of your own home. Using a computer or laptop, you can create scenes and chases, and program the movement of your scanners and moving heads. What's more, it's possible to pre-render the entire show for a virtual preview. You can also use the software live, to choose and adapt scenes, making it a highly versatile package. Controlling the software can be done using various MIDI and DMX devices, and it's compatible with iPhones, iPads and Android devices.

DVC Fun: 128 DMX channels

The Daslight 4 software can be downloaded for free, but you'll need a Daslight USB or Ethernet interface to translate the signal to DMX. This particular model, the DVC Fun, is an entry-level model that can use 128 DMX channels. It also has an internal memory that allows you to use it as a standalone device. This allows you to load up a show you've previously created, so that you can start it up without the need for a computer - a great backup for live use or small-scale shows.
