General

For left-legged drummers, the Iron Cobra pedals have also been given another look. The HP900PWLN, successor to the HP900PSWLN, has been significantly improved in a number of ways. For instance, the stability, durability and action of this pedal have been improved. Tama supplies this twin pedal including hardcase.

To increase stability, a few things were changed. For instance, the baseplate and frame have been made wider. This can not only be clearly seen, but also clearly felt. The footplate has also been attached to the baseplate in a new way, for extra durability. Thanks to the new attachment, the footplate will never again be able to move sideways, something many pedals will eventually do. The left pedal is attached to the bass drum rim by means of the Para Clamp II Pro; a rubber clamp that has a good grip and does not leave scratches. Thanks to the redesigned Lite Sprocket, which come from the Speed Cobra series, the pedal's action has been significantly improved which enhances the playing feel. The Power-Strike Cobra beater gives a full sound. Furthermore, the spring attachment has been changed, allowing the spring to move forwards and backwards. As a result, the position of the spring is always straight, instead of the pedal pulling the spring crooked. Thanks to this system, the pedal feels much more natural.

Rolling Glide or Power Glide?

You may be wondering what the essential difference is between a Power Glide pedal and a Rolling Glide pedal. Well, with a Power Glide pedal, the beater gets some extra speed from the cam just before it hits the sheet. The cam is the part to which the beater is attached and over which the chain runs down. This is useful for pop and rock drummers, for example. If you prefer an even speed, it is better to choose a pedal with Rolling Glide.

Tips or comments about this product
  • The image shows the regular edition of the pedal, which is suited for right-handed drummers. You'll receive the lefty edition of the double bass drum pedal, however. Its left pedal is attached to your bass drum.
