Gretsch Drums BK-J483V-AP Broadkaster VB Antique Pearl

Gretsch's Broadkaster series breathes new life into an old classic - the popular Broadkaster drum kit from the 1950s. The BK-J483V-AP shell set is part of the rejuvenated Broadkaster series and consists of a small yet powerful 18-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 14-inch floor tom. The shells all have a gorgeous Antique Pearl finish.

Thin shells

The shells of the Broadkaster series are quite thin, consisting of only three plies of wood: two plies of maple with a ply of poplar in between. The result is a full sound with plenty of resonance. The BK-J483V-AP shell set comes with vintage hardware, which has been modelled after the hardware of the original Broadkaster series. You'll notice the characteristic style of the bass drum legs and the floor tom legs, and the way the tom is mounted directly on the shell. The rail Consolette tom holder that is mounted on the bass drum is also quite special.

Special hoops

The hoops of the toms have been modelled after those from the 1950s, but are much stronger thanks to the use of thicker steel. The wooden hoops of the bass drum have a Satin Classic Maple finish with an Antique Pearl inlay. The bearing edges of the shells have been finished by hand and have a special 30-degree reverse roundover edge, which increases the surface contact between drumhead and shell, resulting in a deep, warm sound.
