Gretsch Drums BK-J483V-SCM Broadkaster VB Satin Classic Maple

Relive the glory days of the Broadkaster! Gretsch's new Broadkaster series allows modern players to follow in the footsteps of many (famous) drummers before them. One of these new kits is the BK-J483V-SCM, a three-piece shell set with a Modern Bop Kit configuration, consisting of an 18-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 14-inch floor tom. The shells all have a Satin Classic Maple finish that really shows off their wood.

Shells and hardware

One of the main benefits of the old Broadkaster shells was their relative thinness. The new Broadkasters have the same 3-ply construction, consisting of two plies of maple with a ply of poplar in between. Thanks to the use of these two wood types, the thin shells provide optimal resonance and a quick response. The BK-J483V-SCM shell set is fitted with Vintage Build hardware, which gives it a classic look. A rail Consolette tom holder allows you to slide your tom into position on the bass drum, while authentically mounted bass drum and floor tom legs ensure stability. The Vintage Build shells are equipped with special mufflers and Remo drumheads.

Special hoops

The hoops of the toms have been modelled after those from the 1950s, but are much stronger thanks to the use of thicker steel. The wooden hoops of the bass drum have a Dark Walnut finish with an Antique Pearl inlay. The bearing edges of the shells have been finished by hand and have a special 30-degree reverse roundover edge, which increases the surface contact between drumhead and shell, resulting in a deep, warm sound.
