Gretsch Drums Broadkaster drum kits have always been exceptionally popular, not in the least part because of their outstanding sound characteristics. This 2014 edition of the Broadkaster sounds just as fabulous and offers the same authentic looks and class. The three-piece Vintage Build Classic Heritage shell set has a Satin Copper Mist and consists of a 22-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 16-inch floor tom. It's suitable for various music styles such as rock and fusion.
Broadkaster Vintage Build Classic Heritage: hybrid
The shells of the Broadkaster Classic Heritage Satin Copper Mist are quite thin and have a hybrid nature: they are made of two plies of maple with a ply of poplar in between. Together, these two wood types produce a full, warm sound with a well-defined low end - you'll instantly recognise the characteristic Gretsch sound. The term Vintage Build refers not only to the finish and the choice of wood, but also to the hardware of the shells. The Rail Consolette on the bass drum, for instance, is a remarkable and practical feature, which enables you to quickly and easily mount the 12-inch tom at the right playing position. The tom itself is fitted with a rugged plate mount with clip, while the floor tom features a G4823V vintage diamond clamp and 9.5mm floor tom legs. The bass drum is kept securely in place by its USA G4966 vintage bass drum legs.
Hoops and bearing edges
The 6-ply maple bass drum hoops have a Satin Copper Mist finish and a chrome nitron mirror-effect inlay - a great finishing touch to the overall good looks of the drum kit. The claw hooks of the bass drum are fitted with vintage T-rod tension rods, another nod to the Broadkaster series of old. The double-flanged hoops of the toms have been modelled after classic hoops, but are made from a more rugged type of steel. The bearing edges of the shells have been finished with a reverse roundover technique, ensuring optimal surface contact between shell and drumhead for that full, warm, authentic Gretsch sound.
The classic characteristics of the BK-R423V-SCP shell set are combined with modern technology: all shells are equipped with internal mufflers. The bass drum's muffler is located on the resonant side of the shell.
