Gretsch Drums' Broadkaster series - the popular drum kits from the 1950s - have been given a modern update. The three-piece BK-J483-AP shell set is part of the rejuvenated Broadkaster series and features a Standard Build Classic Bomber configuration that is perfect for heavy rock. The set consists of a 24-inch bass drum, a 13-inch tom and a 16-inch floor tom, and has an Antique Pearl finish.
Enhanced Broadkaster Classic Bomber: hardware
The 3-ply shells of the Broadkaster set are made of two plies of maple with a ply of poplar in between. Just like the classic Broadkaster shells, the shells of the BK-J483-AP set are thin, produce a warm, full sound, and provide plenty of resonance. Despite its vintage inspiration, the set comes with modern hardware, including the Gretsch Tom Mounting System (GTS) that minimises contact between shells to ensure optimal resonance. The bass drum is equipped with stable USA G9013 telescopic legs and the floor tom is fitted with 12.7mm legs, so your Broadkaser set can be steadily set up.
A modern rock shell set
The configuration with a 24 x 14-inch bass drum is referred to by Gretsch Drums as the Classic Bomber - an apt name, as the kit hits like a bomb! The 6-ply maple hoops of the bass drum have a stylish Antique Pearl inlay, and the bearing edges of the shells have been finished using the reverse roundover technique, which increases the surface contact between shell and drumhead, ensuring a full, warm, authentic Gretsch sound.
