Gretsch Drums RN1-J483-BM Renown Maple 2014 Blue Metal shell set

General

Gretsch's Renown Maple series - which has been based on the USA Custom Range - applies modern hardware to an old concept, without sacrificing any of its classic sound. This shell set consists of a stand-alone 18-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 14-inch floor tom, all finished in Blue Metal, a stylish pattern that can also be found on the hoops of the bass drum.

Maple

The kit's finish may have a cool, kind of blue hue, but its 6-ply maple shells deliver enough warmth to counterbalance that chill. They produce a nicely warm and full sound, particularly in the low end. The 30-degree bearing edges maximise the contact between the shells and the included Remo drumheads, resulting in that beloved, typical Gretsch sound.

Chrome finish

The hardware of the shell set - the most innovative feature of the Renown series - has been finished with a layer of chrome that not only protects it but looks good too. Optimal resonance is ensured by the GTS tom suspension system, which minimises shell contact. The die-cast hoops of the tom and floor tom are free of any weak points, so the drumheads are kept in tune consistently. Special T-shaped screws adorn the legs of the shells and tom mount.
