Completely stripped back and made as compact as physically possible, the Pearl Traveller Kit offers the perfect for solution for any space-poor drummer with sensitive neighbours. While designed to serve as a practice or lower-volume kit, the Traveller is actually a fully-grown, dynamic percussion instrument.

The Pearl PCTK-1810 Compact Traveller Kit

The shells have been completely removed from the included 18-inch kick drum and 10-inch snare, and the snare is simply installed onto the kick drum using the included mount. Breaking it down is simply a matter of folding it up, and the portable package is a mere 12.5cm thick, and since the kit is fitted with standard tensions hoops, you can freely experiment with different batter heads and tune them up with a drum key, just like you would with standard acoustic shells.

Wrote the following about Pearl PCTK-1810 Compact Traveller Kit

Dit drumstel kan DE oplossing zijn voor 2 dagelijkse problemen van drummers: het lawaai en het gewicht. Als ervaren drummer kan ik dit drumstel aanraden voor iedereen die een tussenweg zoekt tussen een absoluut stille drum (met mesh-heads) en een 'jungle kit' (drums met kleine maten, die ook luid klinken). Ik beschouw deze set als een zeer praktische oefenset op repetities of thuis. Er zijn geen toms, maar die heb je niet altijd nodig. Belangrijk: deze traveler kit is echt stabiel, op een vloermat. De klank van de basdrum is diep en droog, de snare drum kun je bijstemmen tot hij 'redelijk' klinkt. Dan noem ik nu de grote voordelen: deze kit is zo gemakkelijk te verplaatsen, hij past met zijn 18" in elke bekkentas. Samen met 'low volume bekkens' (even Googlen) klinkt hij 'luid genoeg' voor repetities, en niet 'te luid'. Wat je wel niet moet vergeten, is dat je nog een draagzak voor je drumkruk, vloermatje, hardware en basdrum-pedaal nodig hebt. Sinds ik dit drumstel heb (met de juiste bekkens-geen luide bekkens, dus even nadenken en zoeken) ben ik op een minuut uitgeladen en supersnel opgesteld. Het scheelt enorm in gewicht, zeker als je trappen moet doen. Ik win heel wat plaats in de wagen en op een podium, en de medemuzikanten waarderen het lagere volume enorm (zeker in een gesloten ruimte). Het is nu veel eenvoudiger om demo's te maken, met zo'n laag volume. Het geld van zo'n extra drumkit spaar je snel uit als je de kosten van geluidsisolatie of repetitieruimtes overweegt. Om maar te zwijgen over gehoorschade. Tot daar mijn commentaar. O ja, niet geschikt voor heavy metal, maar dat wist je al.
