General
With the Silverstar series, Tama created a line of drums that offer a professional sound at a very reasonable price. The Tama VD62RS-BOS Silverstar Bright Orange Sparkle is a 6-piece shell set. It consists of a 22 x 18" bass drum, 10 x 7" and 12 x 8" toms, 14 x 12" and 16 x 14" floor toms and a 14 x 5” snare drum. With its warm, open sound, this kit is great for any genre. What’s more, its gorgeous Bright Orange Sparkle wrap finish will look great on any stage!
Birch
The snare drum and toms are made of 6 plies of birch and come in at 6 mm thick, while the 7-ply bass drum is 8 mm thick. This construction results in a bright sound with a beautifully rounded tone. To help the shells resonate properly, Tama fitted them with modern shell hardware. For instance, the Sound Arc hoops curve inward to help emphasise the birch’s natural sound. They also help improve tuning stability and accuracy a great deal!
Optimal resonance
For optimal resonance, the toms are mounted using Tama’s Star-Mount system. This suspends the toms from four points on the top hoop. As this system barely touches the shells, they can resonate freely, resulting in an optimal tone. For that same reason, this shell set also features lugs that are as small and lightweight as possible!
