Yamaha's top-quality Absolute Hybrid Maple shell set in Gold Champagne Sparkle consists of a 22-inch bass drum, 10 and 12-inch toms and a 16-inch floor tom. These shells are a unique combination of 6-ply maple with a single layer of wenge in the middle, equalling a total of seven layers. This particular combination of wood types offers the set a beautiful sound full of expression. Dynamic differences can be heard extremely well, which gives you the opportunity to play with even more expression. The set is also equipped with a lightweight tom holder for optimal shell resonance.

Details

Yamaha has an eye for detail, that much is certainly clear. That's why there is a different number of vent holes for each tom shell, depending on its size, in order to produce optimal sound projection. Vent holes are also responsible for boosting the mids and lows, so you can be sure that these frequencies will be very well balanced. The interior of the toms is finished with a Vintage Natural lacquer for strengthened intonation and even better sound projection. In order to further optimise the sound, the bearing edges have been rounded off with different angles per drum. This helps to provide good contact between the drumheads and the shells for the best sound possible. The bass drum bearing edge is 30 degrees, for a deeper, more powerful sound, while the toms and snare drum have a 45-degree bearing edge angle for added balance.

Full sound

The tom hoops are made entirely of 3mm-thick die-cast aluminium for a more open sound and a solid attack. On the bass drum you'll find hook lugs that have minimal impact on the shells but help to maximize the sound output. The tom holder is also very lightweight for an optimal sound. All in all, this is a top-quality set, just like we're used to from Yamaha.
