Sound and expression

Yamaha has spent three years working on the Absolute Hybrid Maple line. Every detail was refined to a tee, and the result is a kit with a sublime sound. For starters, the quality wood combination offers excellent dynamic reach, making this set excellent for live use. Next, Yamaha chose to vary the number of air vents per shell, in order to optimise the sustain of each drum in the set. Finally, rounded bearing edges ensure optimal contact between the shell and the drum head. As you can imagine, the fruit of Yamaha's labour is a set with fantastic sound and infinite expression.

Hardware

The hardware also got a lot of extra attention in the Absolute Maple line. For example, Yamaha added die-cast aluminium hoops so you could easily incorporate rim clicks and rim shots into your playing. Furthermore, the YESS III tom mounting system works to allow the toms to resonate freely; there's no metal touching the shell that could create an unnatural sound. Moreover, all of the hardware features a chrome finish. All in all, this is a shell set that is great for advanced players looking for a fantastic sound and a lot of class.
