General
Vic Firth is world-renowned for its high-quality drumsticks. These AJ5 models are the thinnest sticks Vic Firth makes, with just a .490-inch diameter. They were designed for jazz drummers who want plenty of rebound on both drums and cymbals, which these sticks have, due to their long taper. Subtly playing is also very possible thanks to the small teardrop tip, which allows for clear ghost notes and cymbal patterns. Finally, they're made of the popular and durable hickory wood, which gives this pair of thin, accurate jazz drum sticks excellent durability.

Deze stokken zijn perfect voor jazz en andere lichte muziek waar je wat zachter wil spelen. Ze hebben ook een goeie rebound en zijn kwalitatief! Ze maken ook de klank van cymbalen veel mooier en helderder.

Een paar jaar geleden heb ik deze gekocht omdat het de dunste drumstokken waren die ik kon vinden. Perfect voor een subtiele speelstijl. Erg veel plezier van gehad. Tip: als je je rudiments oefent met zware stokken (bijvoorbeeld SD2 Bolero) en daarna overstapt op deze dunne stokken zul je merken dat je ineens heel soepel en snel kan spelen! Inmiddels ben ik toch overgestapt op de AJ3 voor iets meer grip (iets dikkere stok) en omdat ik de klank daarvan op mijn cymbals iets mooier vond.
