SMS Audio's blue BioSport earphones allows athletes to kill two birds with one stone. First of all, the stylish in-ear headphones make your workout sessions much more pleasant, as they reproduce the playlists on your smartphone in outstanding quality. Secondly, they monitor your heart rate, so you won't need a separate, expensive device for that. A built-in sensor registers this vital workout information, and transmits it to a fitness app such as RunKeeper, which processes it and uses it to create a custom training schedule. The splash-proof BioSport earbuds are compatible with various iOS and Android smartphones, and come with a practical pouch.
BioSport Blue: use and comfort
The BioSport in-ear headphones are exceedingly easy to use. They don't require a battery, so you can simply plug their standard mini jack connector into your smartphone and you're good to go. An inline remote allows you to switch from heart rate monitor to phone if you get an incoming call. To prevent the earbuds from falling out of your ears while you're exercising - what could be more annoying? - SMS Audio has developed the comfortable Secure-Fit design, and included ear tips in three sizes.

Ik heb er nu een aantal keren mee gelopen en het werkt voortreffelijk: de hartslagmetingen lijken heel accuraat en de manier waarop de dopjes in je oor zitten, is prima. Het platte kabeltje is wel wat zwaarder dan een normaal dun rond kabeltje, maar zelfs als je het niet vastclipt aan je shirt blijven de oordopjes op hun plaats zitten.
Het koppelen met mijn Android 5.0 telefoon (Oneplus One, formeel niet ondersteund) ging vlekkeloos, net als de koppeling met sport appje Runkeeper. Overigens, in de handleiding wordt steeds specifiek gesproken over Runkeeper. Andere apps worden niet genoemd. Ik vraag me daardoor wel af of de oordopjes ook met andere apps werken.
Eén punt van kritiek: de geluidskwaliteit is zeer matig. Zelfs met een equalizer appje op de telefoon lukt het eigenlijk niet om er fatsoenlijk geluid uit te krijgen.
Conclusie: je koopt deze oordopjes om mee te sporten en op een eenvoudige, zeer goed werkende manier je hartslag te meten in Runkeeper. De muziek is daar duidelijk ondergeschikt aan.
