The world-famous Zildjian Company has been using a secret alloy for their cymbals since way back in 1623, and has passed on that well-kept secret from generation to generation. The A Custom series gets its name from the founder of this family business – Avedis I - who got the Zildjian name from the sultan in Constantinople, and the entire series has been designed in collaboration with renowned drummer Vinnie Colaiuta.

Even though it's still a part of the A Custom line of cymbals, this 18-inch EFX cymbal definitely does a few things different. While still retaining the A Custom series' famous bright, cutting sound, this cymbal has a number of laser generated cut-outs, that give it a remarkable, trashy sound and decrease its sustain. Therefore, this cymbal is ideal when used for short, sharp accents. Finally, its brilliant finish slightly accentuates the high frequencies, and gives the cymbal a striking, elegant look.
