About the Waldorf Lector

While they were developing the Lector, Waldorf’s engineers thought long and hard about the practical requirements of a software vocoder. As such, this plug-in does not only offer an ergonomic interface, but also has all the functions you need to edit your sound in minute detail.

The Lector is equipped with the renowned Waldorf multi-mode filter, which has a slope of 12 dB or 24 dB. A second filter whitens your signal before it is coloured by the vocoder - ideal for choirs and voices. A three-band equalizer enables you to adjust the generated sound so it will match your mix perfectly.

The Lector vocoder uses an analysing filter that takes your incoming signal apart and divides it over a hundred frequency bands. After that, you’re free to adjust the intensity, volume and band-pass filters.

Integrated synthesizer with sixteen voices

The Waldorf Lector boasts an integrated 16-voice synthesizer, equipped with two oscillators with analogue waveforms, such as sine, triangle, sawtooth and square, with variable pulse width, sample & hold and noise, and with loadable single and multi-samples. The FM and ring modulation options give the vocoder its lush, rich overtones.

To top it all off, the Lector also offers typical vocoder effects such as tube overdrive, transistor distortion, six-voice chorus and flanger, stereo delay and realistic reverb.
