General

While renowned for providing the backbone of Hot Tuna as well as Jefferson Airplane, Jack Casady's renown is maybe only topped by his legendary bass. Since Casady loved the orignal Gibson semi-hollow body but wasn't so excited about the pickups, he started to tinker, and it was only after years of experimentation that he was able to find the superior sound and acoustic response that he was looking for. Here, Ephiphone serve the masses with their Casady-collaborative piece, finished with all of Casady's own mods and tweaks: the eminent Jack Casady Signature Bass.

The Jack Casady Signature Bass: Semi-Hollow, Full Sound

The lion's share of the tone this guitar is able to produce is provided by the semi-hollow, fully-maple body. While the construction adds airiness, the use of maple balances things out with characteristic shimmer and sparkle and the mahogany neck brings the definition and warmth. When compared to most standard semi-acoustic basses, this model bears a relatively standard 34 inch scale length, so that uniquely, you're getting a kind of solid-body-bass sound feel from a genuine hollow-body.

A Single JCB-1 Humbucker

Jack's ultimate sound is delivered by a single, very special pickup mounted in the middle: the JCB-1. This low-impedance humbucker guarantees natural tone wiped clean of any hum or distortion, and using the fitted Varitone switch, the elastic nature of this pickup can be further opened up and tweaked to fit pretty much any playing style. This unique combo of tradition and tone-chasing refinement results in a bass that has since become a hero in its own right.

Wrote the following about Epiphone Jack Casady Bass Faded Pelham Blue Semi-Acoustic Bass Guitar

Prachtige looks and feel bij deze gitaar. Betaalbaar ook. Ik testte zowat tien-twaalf gitaren in de winkel in Goes en deze kwam er qua karakter voor mij het best uit, zeker gezien de prijs die ik ervoor betaalde. Misschien omdat ik thuis al een Fender P heb en enkele akoestische basses, deze zit er tussen in.
Klank is mooi rond al kan ik ´m laten funken ook.
Ligt goed in de hand en weegt geen ton. Het is even zoeken naar de juiste lengte van de strap want door de grote body moet je je houding wel even aanpassen maar dit is geen groot probleem.
Heel blij met deze aanwinst, en oogt niet alleen op podium mooi± hangt ook mooi aan de muur als ik er niet op speel.

Heel blij mee!
Wat een mooie fijne basgitaar is dit. De kleur is ook ontzettend mooi. Het oog wil natuurlijk ook wat :-)
Ik was op zoek naar een hele andere basgitaar dan dat ik al heb staan en dat heb ik met deze gevonden. De bas heeft een hele mooie klank die lang aanhoudt door de hollow body. Debas geeft ene hele mooie ronde volle klank en daar houdt ik van.
Het is even wennen dat de body een stuk groter is dan dat ik gewend ben en het is aan te raden om een leren strap/gitaarband voor een akoestische (bas)gitaar erbij te kopen. Door de hollow body is de hals zwaarder en wil de bas naar beneden duiken. Dit doet hij niet meer met een leren strap/gitaarband.
Met de 3-standen schakelaar kun je verschillende diktes kiezen qua klank wat heel fijn is.
Verder speelt hij heel licht en soepel.
Een hele mooie bas voor een betaalbare prijs.
