It's clear that a lot of thought and passion went into the tight build of the Ibanez EHB1000 headless bass. Sporting a matte Arctic Ocean finish, this four-string model features a lightweight, chambered basswood body and a bolt-on 5-piece maple/walnut neck where the flat, roasted birdseye maple fretboard comes lined with twenty-four stainless steel medium frets to guarantee a modern playing feel. In terms of electronics, you're looking at two Bartolini BH2 pickups that are connected to a 3-band Vari-Mid EQ system for an extra-wide tonal range, while welcome finishing touches include luminescent side dots, Schaller straplocks and a removable finger ramp. This Bass Workshop creation comes complete with a matching gig bag.

Ik was op zoek naar een lichte bas vanwege rugklachten. De ehb1000 is niet enkel heel licht (3,18 kg), door het headless design weegt hij ook nog eens minder door op je schouder.
De nek van gerookt walnotenhout is niet enkel mooi, hij ligt ook goed in de hand. Ik kan plots stukken spelen die op m´n yamaha moeizaam gingen.
Het geluid is goed gebalanceerd, kan netjes getweaked worden en heeft een prachtige attack en sustain. Dat is natuurlijk persoonlijke smaak.
De meegeleverde gigbag is van redelijke kwaliteit. De straplocks zijn heel goed en de extra duimsteun is een handige toevoeging.
Voorlopig heb ik gewoon niets negatiefs te melden. De afwezigheid van een passief-actief schakelaar zoals op de sr500e had leuk geweest. Op de ehb1000 kan je wel de actieve equalizer bypassen, maar of dit de batterijvoeding uitschakelt weet ik niet.
Kortom, het is niet de goedkoopste bas, maar hij voelt en klinkt veel duurder. Absoluut waar voor je geld dus!
Laatste noot : hij kwam af fabriek al volledig correct afgesteld. Mooie service van Ibanez!
