The Saffire Bass returns! Revived by Rapier, this classic '60s bass features various upgrades based on designs by Alan Entwistle. Featuring bold styling, the double-cutaway okoume body of the Saffire boasts a unique pickguard lay-out and helps shape a warm core sound, while the stable maple neck comes kitted out with 24 medium jumbo frets plus a zero fret, keeping the tone and playability consistent across the board.
The Saffire Bass: A Hidden Gem
The Rapier Saffire also offers the enhanced tuning stability and satisfying feel of a compensated bridge and four block saddles. Hum-free tone is taken care of by two specially-designed EWR64B low-noise mini-humbuckers by the hand of pickup expert, Alan Entwistle. These pickups can be freely isolated or combined via a 3-way pickup, while the sound is tweaked using the fitted volume and tone pots and can be pushed in terms of mid-range presence by simply flipping the mid-boost switch.

Wrote the following about Rapier Saffire Bass Fiesta Red Electric Bass Guitar
Du point de vue des finitions, même si je n'arrive pas à savoir le pays de fabrication (Chine ? Indonésie ? Corée ?), je suis très satisfait. Sortie du carton, elle était très bien réglée (intonation, hauteur des cordes et courbure du manche) et prête à l'emploi. Niveau sonorités, elle permet une belle synthèse entre une jazz bass, avec ses deux micros, et les basses short scales avec des graves bien présents. Le potard de réglage des médiums permet de s'assurer d'être entendu dans un mix.
Globalement j'en suis ravi : elle a une « gueule » unique, elle est bien finie, sonne bien. Elle est inspirante et donne envie de tester de nouvelles choses. J'ai déjà dépensé le double pour des instruments avec moins de personnalité et des finitions moins bonnes.
