The 1956 Fender Stratocaster in two-colour sunburst is a true icon, but an original model is very rare, which in turn makes it very expensive indeed. Luckily, the master luthiers in Fender's Custom Shop in Corona have created brand new ones, which have been artificially aged, so it seems like they've weathered 60 years of intense use. The Fender Custom Shop Limited 1956 Relic Stratocaster in Faded 2-Tone Sunburst was carefully reliced and given a faded sunburst finish. Its ash body features the deep contours of the time, as well as a quartersawn 1-piece maple neck with a V-profile. Furthermore, the fretboard also has the then-common 9.5" radius, and it's fitted with thin 6105 fret wire. In short, this guitar looks and feels like a true classic!
Fender Custom Shop Limited 1956 Relic Stratocaster in Faded 2-Tone Sunburst
This guitar is entirely new, but it's built to the specs used in 1956. As such, it features hand-wound pickups that are made to emulate the alnico pickups used then. The middle pickup was reverse-wound, which reverses its polarity. What's more, it also features the famous Tone Saver Treble Bleed circuit The result is a remarkably authentic classic Stratocaster sound. There are new touches though, as the Fender Custom Shop Limited 1956 Relic Stratocaster features a 5-way pickup switch instead of the traditional 3-way switch, to allow you to fully utilise this unique guitar's rich sound.

In the Fender Custom Shop, an American icon is brought back to life after 60 years. Fender used a few 1956 Stratocasters as the base for their Limited Edition Relic Stratocaster. Of course there is no replacing the originals, but the master luthiers in Corona got eerily close by using the 1956 specs as a starting point. Finally, Custom Shop guitars are artificially aged, so they have the look to match their great vintage-correct sound.
