Ed O’Brien's atmospheric guitar sound is an essential part of Radiohead's sonic identity. Fender have joined up with this ground-breaking guitarist to develop an instrument as unique as his sound, resulting in the Fender EOB Stratocaster in Olympic White, complete with deluxe gig bag.

EOB Stratocaster: versatile sound

This inspiring guitar is suitable for creating soundscapes in your own unique way. It offers a wide palette of sounds thanks to its alder body and powerful Seymour Duncan JB Jr. humbucking single-coil pickup. In the middle position, there's a Texas Special that ensures a prominent midrange and crystal-clear trebles.

Endless sustain

This Stratocaster has a Fernandes Sustainer in the neck position which, thanks to a dose of technical magic, makes your sustain virtually endless. As well as an on/off switch, you've also got intensity control and a mini-switch for choosing one of the three modes: Fundamental, Harmonic or Blend.

Tradition meets modern technology

The Fender EOB Stratocaster combines modern electronics with a traditional construction. Its maple neck has a 10/56 V-profile and a maple fretboard with 21 narrow high frets that make it easy to press down the strings. What makes this Strat especially unique is the Flower of Life emblem engraved on the neck plate. Wrote the following about Fender EOB Stratocaster Olympic White MN with Gig bag

Op zich goede gitaar, ziet er goed uit en speelt prettig. De humbucker is prima, de hals erg dik maar dat stoort niet. Het is eens wat anders dan een standaard strat. Wel een aantal dingen om rekening mee te houden: (1) actieve elementen zijn fijn, maar vreten batterijen. In mijn ervaring moet de batterij vaak al na een paar dagen worden vervangen, zelfs als je er niet op speelt. Oplaadbare batterijen zijn minder goed bruikbaar, want dan wil de sustainer al snel niet meer (die heeft blijkbaar een 'verse" batterij nodig om goed te functioneren). (2) eer zitten 3 standen op de sustainer; de middelste daarvan is nauwelijks herkenbaar zodat je die niet gebruikt; (3) afleverkwestie: de hals stond een beetje uit het lood.

Zou ik m nog eens kopen? Denk eigenlijk van niet, de sustainer is leuk maar er zijn betere/in de praktijk beter bruikbare gitaren (even doorsparen voor een US strat?). |Tenzij je per se deze sustainer wilt natuurlijk ...

Beautiful guitar! Lovely chunky neck, multiple pickups for different styles and very cool inbuilt sustainer. Definitely worth a consideration by any intermediate or pro guitar player.
