General

One of the most famous Stratocasters will have to be Eric Clapton's 'Blackie'. The guitar you see here is the modern version of that legendary Strat. The Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster might not look very different from the '50s original, but underneath it has quite a bit of present-day technology. This Black Strat features silent and hum-free Vintage Noiseless pickups as well as an active mid boost and highly versatile TBX tone adjustment. The Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster comes with a vintage-style tweed case.

Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster's characteristics

Like Eric's guitar, this Artist series Strat has an Alder body that makes it comfortably lightweight and adds a full, neat tone rich in mids. Because the 22-fret neck is made of one-piece maple it adds that extra bit of bite to the trebles. Some modern upgrades include a flatter 9.5-inch fretboard radius and an additional 22nd fret. Like the original 'Blackie', this guitar has a locked vintage-style tremolo so creative vibrato effects can freely flow from your fingers just like with the blues guitarists of old.

TBX tone adjustment and mid boost

The Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster separates itself from other Strats with its versatile electronics. Beneath the first tone knob you'll find the TBX tone adjustment in the form of a stacked 250 kOhm and 1 MegOhm potentiometer. In positions 0 to 5 the tone knob will function as a passive tone knob that filters out the trebles, and in positions 5 to 10 you get a purer sound with clearer bass and trebles. The mid boost is located where you would normally find the second tone knob. This knob allows you to adjust the mids up to +25 dB, making even single-coils sound like wicked humbuckers: ideal for solo's!
