Improving on perfection, in the G&L S-500, Leo Fender took his original ST-design and upgraded it with the enhanced, single-minded sound of a stable tremolo bridge and hyper-flexible electronics. Unlike a lot of ST-like iterations, this affordable Tribute Series model features a solid mahogany body, laying down a deeper and warmer sonic foundation that ensures less definition is lost in the string-to-body translation. The treble and bass output frequencies are also given some growling punch by the mounted three-pack of Leo Fender designed single-coils. It's also well-worth noting that each of these MFD pickups have been made in Fullerton, California.

The G&L Tribute S-500: More Tone & More Stability

The passive electronics on board this George Fullerton and Leo Fender collab support a wider range of guitar sounds. For a start, the two-piece tone control section offers accurate control over the shape of the output, especially since you're supplied with a dedicated pot for the trebles and a dedicated pot for the basses. Pull out the tone pots, and you gain access to an extra two voicings: a combo of the two outer single-coils and a combo of all three single-coils, bumping up the options compared to a standard ST-model with just a five-way switch to seven. To finish, the Dual-Fulcrum vibrato bridge supports controlled tremolo-arm action as well as firm tuning stability.
