Ibanez APEX20 20th Anniversary Korn Munky Signature

It was some twenty years ago, when guitarist Munky James (James Shaffer) of the band Korn saw a 7-string Ibanez guitar for the very first time. He immediately fell in love with the deeply tuned sounds of the Ibanez Universe (Steve Vai) and after that, he never wanted anything else. It took only a short time before Munky had his own signature-model at Ibanez. Now, the guitarist celebrates his 20th Korn anniversary with the Ibanez APEX20 20th Anniversary Munky Signature.
Features of the Ibanez APEX20
The APEX20 has a traditional RG-shaped body made of basswood, finished with a tough-looking matte black varnish. Despite their wider shape, Ibanez's 7-string necks are surprisingly easy and comfortable to play on and the APEX20 is no exception. Its three-piece neck is made of maple with a sleek 24-fret rosewood fretboard without position markers and a natural-coloured headstock. A brushed aluminium-style pickguard really completes this unique picture.
Pickups and hardware
This basic but powerful workhorse is equipped with DiMarzio Blaze pickups. At the bridge you’ll find a powerful humbucker and there's a single coil in the neck position. These pickups have been designed to complement the extended range of the seven strings. The APEX20 is fitted with the Ibanez Gibraltar Standard II-7 fixed bridge which has a low profile for optimal playing comfort. The guitar is equipped with one volume control and a 3-way pickup switch for a set of three brilliantly deep sounds.
