Yamaha created the Pacifica electric guitar series back in the '90s to show that good quality doesn't have to be expensive. The Pacifica 112 was the entry-level model, and since then has become incredibly popular with beginners and advanced guitarists alike. The Pacifica 120H is based on that guitar, but features a fixed hardtail bridge instead of a tremolo and two humbucker pickups with a coil-tap function. This Pacifica 120H in Tobacco Brown Sunburst doesn't only sound excellent, but it plays fantastically—especially for a guitar from its price class. But then again, we couldn't expect anything less from a purebred Yamaha guitar!

Yamaha Pacifica 120H TBS: what a sound!

The Pacifica 120H has outstanding sound characteristics thanks to its massive alder body. This wood type produces a rich, balanced sound with tight lows, solid mids and crystal-clear highs. The neck of the PAC120H is made of the harder, stronger elm and is equipped with a 22-fret rosewood fretboard with a radius of almost 14 inches. This relatively flat radius lends itself fantastically to faster guitar work—making the two Alcino 5 humbuckers an excellent fit. Their wicked sound and high output are ideal for rougher music like hard rock and metal. Turn the gain down just a tad though for a full, warm sound that's perfect for genres like jazz and blues.

Hardtail bridge and Coil-Tap function

The hardtail bridge of the Yamaha Pacifica 120H is equipped with six adjustable saddles for optimal intonation and tone. The strings are attached via the back of the body, so your notes can enjoy more sustain and attack. The electronics of the Pacifica 120H are comprised of volume and tone knobs with the addition of a 3-way pickup switch. This switch gives you the ability to choose from the bright, clear sound of the bridge humbucker, the deep, dynamic sound of the neck humbucker, or a combination thereof. Pull out the tone knob to split the humbuckers into single-coil pickups. Thanks to this coil-tap function you can get a clear, sparkling single-coil sound that's ideal for cleans and funky riffs.
