Even within Ibanez's prestigious J.Custom Series, there's a hierarchy. At the very top of the ranks, you'll find the RG8870. This superior electric guitar has a solid alder body that's been topped with a 4mm-thick slice of flamed maple and finished with 'natural reveal' binding to accentuate its RG-style contours. In terms of tone, the Ibanez J.Custom RG8870 can be steered in any direction thanks to the ten core sounds supplied by the three DiMarzio pickups: a 'The Tone Zone' bridge humbucker with a chrome cover, a special PAF 36th Anniversary neck humbucker, and a True Velvet passive single-coil in the middle position.

The J.Custom RG8870: Play at Breakneck Speed

So you can play licks and riffs at near breakneck speed, the RG8870 has been given a custom Super Wizard AS neck profile and an uber-stable, 5-piece maple-and-wenge neck. This, combined with a set of trusty Gotoh-made tuners ensures superb tuning stability, while the macassar ebony fretboard has been furnished with an elegant 'Tree of Life' inlay and twenty-four jumbo frets, where each fret has been specially treated to get rid of any sharp edges. The fretboard has a flat 16.9-inch radius for optimum grip on the strings and eased bends, and to accommodate extreme vibrato tricks, Ibanez have completed the build with a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge. As befits a high-end axe, the RG8870 comes including a case, a set of Gotoh straplocks, a multi-tool and a certificate of authenticity.
