General

With a baritone guitar you can benefit from a tonal range that's been extended towards the lower tones. The Ibanez RGIB6-BK is such a baritone guitar and belongs to the Iron Label series, a series filled with metal-oriented instruments. This black solid body has a scale length of 28 inches, or 71 centimetres, which allows for thicker, longer strings that produce a much more voluminous sound. The lowest string on the RGIB6-BK is a B-string, which sounds a quarter tone lower than the normal E on a 6-string guitar.

Ibanez RGIB6-BK: Wood Types and Build

This guitar has a basswood body and is mounted with a Nitro Baritone-neck, which has been derived from the Nitro Wizard neck and was developed specifically for a longer scale. Playing ultra-fast solo parts doesn't cause a problem with this smooth neck, which consists of three parts maple and bubinga wood. The fretboard is made of bound rosewood and has 24 jumbo frets. The fixed Gibraltar Standard II-bridge guarantees optimal stability in terms of sound and tuning and offers maximum sound response and body resonance.

EMG 60 & 81

This baritone guitar is equipped with active pickups by the popular brand EMG. The EMG 60 at the neck provides a fierce output with a fat sound so that you can produce razor-sharp single-note solos. The well-known EMG 81 has been around for a while and also provides a high output and great sustain. Thanks to these active humbuckers, the Ibanez RGIB6-BK sounds perfect. The pickups perfectly transfer the heavy yet bright sound of the baritone. Naturally, this guitar is fitted with the 3-position switch but what's more interesting is the Kill Switch which allows you to dampen the sound for a brief moment to create a stroboscopic effect.
