While 7-string guitars are suitable for all types of music, they are most extensively used in modern metal music. Ibanez is renowned as an authority on both metal music and 7-string guitars, so when they announced the Iron Label series expectations were high. Fortunately, the RGIR27 more than lives up to these high expectations. Everything about this guitar has been designed with hard-hitting, fast metal in mind and it shows.
Construction
The iconic Ibanez RG body, with characteristic pointed cutaways, dates back more than thirty years and needs no introduction. Mahogany is used for a warm sound with lots of sustain. The ultra-thin 3-piece Nitro-Wizard neck is made of maple and bubinga, with an ebony fretboard. Despite its thinness, the neck is still extremely stable and sturdy. Every component you would expect to find on a metal guitar is present, including EMG pickups and a double locking tremolo. The built-in Kill Switch that allows you to easily create an on/off stutter effect also deserves a mention.
Ibanez Iron Label
The Ibanez Iron Label series is designed with just one kind of music in mind: modern metal! Existing models have been adapted, where necessary, to give them more sustain, more output and a faster neck. The guitars are equipped with either original American EMG or DiMarzio pickups, or special souped-up versions. If you love tight, low metal riffs, playing ultra-fast guitar and deep dive bombs then this Ibanez is for you.
