General
In the 90s Nu-metal acts popularised the 7-string guitar, and while some of the acts may no longer be around, the 7-string guitar has remained. In fact, 7-string guitars are now an integral part of modern metal. The RGIR27BFE from the Iron Label series reaffirms Ibanez's status as an authority in this field. Everything about this RG is designed with just one aim in mind: tight, hard-hitting metal riffs played at lightning-fast speed. This is the hardtail version with a fixed bridge and Kill Switch.
Construction
The typical RG body is made of mahogany that generates a warm sound with great sustain. Despite its thinness the 3-piece Nitro Wizard neck is extremely stable and robust. The 24-fret rosewood fretboard is excellent for playing fast. Whether you use a tremolo or not, this hardtail version is an ideal metal guitar. Two EMG 707 pickups ensure great output and even with ultra-high gain they still guarantee smooth playback.
Ibanez Iron Label
The Ibanez Iron Label series is designed with just one kind of music in mind: modern metal. Existing models have been adapted, where necessary, to give them more sustain, more output and a faster neck. The guitars are equipped with either original American EMG or DiMarzio pickups, or special souped-up versions. If you love tight, low metal riffs, ultra-fast guitar and more of a 'riffer' than a 'shredder', then you can't go wrong with this Ibanez.

Ibanez has added two guitars to its Iron Label RG series: the RG and the RG-7. These are real metal machines but with a spalted maple top and headstock. Apart from that, they have the standard Iron Label RG features, with two EMG humbuckers, 24 jumbo frets and a neck made of maple and bubinga.
