General

The RGIR38BFE is an 8-string electric guitar from the Ibanez Iron Label series. It has a mahogany body, active EMG humbuckers and a bolt-on 5-piece Nitro Wizard-8 neck consisting of two layers of walnut and 3 layers of maple. The neck is not only stable but, thanks to the rosewood fretboard's relatively flat 15.7-inch radius and 24 jumbo frets, it's fast and comfortable to play too. The fixed Gibraltar Standard II bridge ensures excellent tuning stability and sustain.

RGIR38BFE: EMG808 and a kill switch

The overall sound of the guitar is warm and rounded with good balance and a touch of bite. Two EMG 808 humbuckers have been fitted to deliver this sound to an amplifier without losing any of the bass, mids, trebles or harmonic richness. The popular active EMG 808 pickups also ensure that none of the sound from the two upper strings is lost. As well as volume control, this Iron Label solid-body model has a kill switch that allows you to add interesting stutter-like effects to your sound.

Wrote the following about Ibanez RGIR38BFE Iron Label Black Flat

Monsterlijke gitaar! Sinds enige tijd was ik me aan het oriënteren op een achtsnarige, getriggerd door de verfrissende ideeën die mijn zevensnarige Jacksons opleverden. Gelet op de normaliter prijzige doch schaarse modellen in de 8 snarige categorie is het wachten op een aanbieding van dit model meer dan de moeite waard gebleken. Waar de 7-snarige mij een tijd heeft gekost om die goed te doorgronden, voelt deze 8-snarige aan alsof die voor mijn handen gemaakt is. Toegegeven, de hals is in verhouding tot een 7 snarige een stuk breder, maar voelt totaal niet als een belemmering of als 'arbeidsintensief'. De navigatie op het fretboard is opmerkelijk genoeg intuïtiever dan op een 7-snarige doordat je vingerposities veel meer synchroniseren met de vertrouwde 6 snaren. Arpeggio's en toonladders over 4 octaven worden plots een makkie ;-). Ik ga heel veel plezier beleven aan het (wederom) opnieuw ontdekken van dit machtig mooie instrument. Een echte aanrader voor wie durft. Bax bedankt!
