If you're able to afford more than a budget model, but still not too keen on spending a fortune on a decent metal guitar, check out Jackson's JS Series, which features a number of eye-catching guitars with comfortable, speedy necks and powerful pickups. Take the Jackson JS32 Kelly in Ferrari Red, for instance; one glance is enough to tell you this guitar was built for the heavy stuff. This Jackson isn't all about looks, however, and also has the hardware it needs to perform.

The JS32 Kelly: construction

The JS32's pointed body is made of poplar, a wood type that produces a similar sound as the much more expensive wood type, alder. As such, this Kelly has a well-balanced core sound, to which the amaranth fretboard adds warm overtones. Like a true race monster, the guitar features a compound-radius fretboard that flattens from 12 inches at the nut to 16 inches at the twelfth fret. In short, it covers all the basics a good metal guitar requires.

Hardware and pickups

When it comes to hardware and pickups, Jackson won't let you down. For starters, the JS-Series JS32 Kelly is equipped with two high-output Jackson Zebra Humbuckers that are perfect for heavier music genres. Furthermore, a graphite-reinforced neck lends the guitar great stability, while a Floyd Rose licensed double locking tremolo completes the picture. In short, this metal monster is ready to rock out!
