General

From its looks to its sound, everything about the Jackson Pro Rhoads RRMG is precise. The sharp lines of the iconic flying V are accentuated by the Satin Silver finish and the angled black pickguard. The colour scheme continues on the ebony fretboard that has the familiar sharkfin position markers on the compound radius neck. Even the headstock matches the body to give this guitar a lovely look. A Floyd Rose 2000 series tremolo bridge means that even when you let rip, this guitar will stay in tune.

Pro Rhoads RRMG: active EMG humbuckers

EMG humbuckers have been a favourite of metal fans for decades. The active design offers minimum noise, a bright sound and tight overdrive. In the bridge position is an EMG 81 that needs no other explanation than to say that it's the sound heard on many a metal album. In the neck position is an EMG 89. This special pickup offers two options. As a humbucker, it sounds like the warm and powerful EMG 85 but when you pull up on the volume knob, this pickup functions like a single-coil so you can expect sparkling sounds reminiscent of the EMG SA.

Pro Series: top-quality instruments.

Jackson Guitars originated in 1980, when talented young guitarist Randy Rhoads approached Wayne Charvel - then the owner of Charvel's Guitar Repair shop - with an idea for an innovative V model. In collaboration with Tim Wilson and Mike Shannon, the Concorde was created. This guitar was so different from the other instruments Charvel was issuing at the time, that guitar builder Grover Jackson decided to introduce them under his own name. Thanks to their stylish designs, fast necks and powerful sound, Jackson guitars are perfect for hard rock and metal. The Pro Series follows many of the specifications of the top models from Jackson's USA series but at a more affordable price.

NAMM 2016: Jackson Spoils Shredders and Metal Heads

Thursday 21 January 2016

During the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, it's not uncommon for guitar manufacturers to introduce new models and finishes. This year, Jackson has released an entire new series under the name Monarkh. The Monarkh guitars were inspired by the famous Les Paul, but offer true shredders and metal heads even more options.
