General

The Jackson X series was created to offer experienced guitar players professional gear at a more than reasonable price. Judging by the SLATTXMG 3-6 in Candy Metallic Blue, they've definitely succeeded. For the price of an affordable mid-range guitar, you get professional features such as a graphite-reinforced neck, active EMG pickups and a compound-radius fretboard. So if you're looking for a professional metal guitar that won't require you to spend your life's savings, the Jackson SLATTXMG is definitely worth a look. In short, it's a remarkably powerful and effective guitar without unnecessary frills.

Metal monster without compromise

If you're looking for a true all-round guitar that will suit any genre, this Jackson might not be the best choice. That's because the Jackson SLATTXMG 3-6 will work great in any genre, as long as it's metal. With a basswood body and a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, the guitar has a solid and well-balanced core sound. But it's the remarkably powerful EMG pickups and the 24-fret compound-radius fretboard that turn the Jackson into a real powerhouse. Because it's equipped with a fixed bridge, you can quickly and easily change between various tunings without having to fear for your tuning stability. What's more, the string-through construction of the bridge allows for extra resonance and sustain.

The name explained

While Jackson's model names may seem a bit cryptic, they've definitely been given some thought and tell you virtually everything you need to know about a guitar. The letters SL mean it has a Soloist body type, AT stands for the arched top and the second T indicates the tune-o-matic-style fixed bridge. Of course, the X tells you it's a guitar from the X series, while the MG stands for the two EMG pickups. Finally, the 3-6 tells you that there are a total of 6 machine heads on the headstock (with 3 on each side), while the finish is indicated with CMB, which stands for Candy Metallic Blue. See, it's not as difficult as it may seem!
