For some, an 8-string electric guitar can be a bit of a handful and maybe isn't the easiest to play. That's why Jackson has equipped the Soloist Archtop SLAT8 FF with a few features to enhance its playability and sound. Thanks to the fanned frets, the scale length measures 28 inches at the low F# string and 25.5 inches at the high E string. While it may look a little different, it feels extremely natural when you're playing it and it means that the lower strings have more tension, and therefore, enhanced definition. In short, it's an excellent model for the progressive guitarist.

Soloist Archtop SLAT8 FF: Powerful sound

The pickups and the bridge are both slanted to match the frets, giving the Jackson SLAT8 a classy, harmonious look. Two active EMG 909 humbucker pickups deliver a noiseless clean, as well as tight distortion. The bridge saddles are all independent of each other, which provides excellent intonation. The SLAT8 has outstanding sustain too, thanks to the neck-through-body construction that is normally found on Jackson's top USA series models. With features like that, you can tell that Jackson has paid close attention to detail when designing this model.

Compound fretboard radius

A compound fretboard radius also adds to the excellent playability of this Jackson Soloist Archtop. The radius is relatively round towards the headstock, where it measures 12 inches. Higher up the neck it flattens out and measures 16 inches. This design makes playing both chords and solos easier. A flatter fretboard makes it easier to push down the strings and lowers the chance of notes being cut off prematurely. The AT1 headstock ensures that the strings run in a straight line to the nut, thereby enhancing tuning stability.
