Is it a guitar or a bass guitar? Well, it's the Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI. It's actually somewhere in between both instruments because although it's tuned the same way as a guitar, it's at an octave lower. This attractively-priced model is based on Fender's original that was produced between 1961 and 1975. Authentic design details include the vintage tint on the back of the neck, the nickel-plated hardware and the logos on the headstock.
Classic Vibe Bass VI: a musical adventure
With a scale length of 30 inches, a C profile neck, a 9.5-inch fretboard radius and narrow, tall frets, the Bass VI is comfortable to play for both guitarists and bassists. Thanks to a slide switch for each of the three Fender Designed Alnico single-coil pickups, another one for the bass cut, and volume and tone controls, the Bass VI gives you a wide variety of tones to play with. Ja. Het is een bas en geen gitaar.... (was dus wel even zoeken bij bax om 'm te vinden want hier staat hij tussen de gitaren....)
Voor mij als gitarist prettiger te bespelen dan een normale bas met 4 nog dikkere snaren.
Ook fijn dat er 6 snaren op zitten die hetzelfde gestemd zijn als mijn gitaren.
De brug van de cv is veel beter dan op mijn vm jaguar van Squire. Deze heeft tenminste zadels met een brede gleuf (mustang style) zodat de snaren niet verspringen.
Met de kill switch filter je wat bas er uit. Als je dan over een gitaarversterker speelt heb je dat typische lage gitaargeluid van bv the Cure :-) Probeer dat maar eens met een andere basgitaar
Op internet lees je wel over intonatieproblemen. Die heb ik niet gelukkig. Klein beetje afstellen en de brug aan de baskant iets omhoog was alles wat ik hoefde te doen.
Wel ga ik er nog iets dikkere snaren op zetten voor net dat beetje meer bas en een iets strakkere lage e-snaar. Die is nu een beetje aan de wiebelige kant omdat die zo slap staat.
