Here, 'HSS' refers to the pickup configuration, which plants a humbucker in the bridge position plus one single-coil in the middle and another at the neck. This load-out allows this Squier Strat to spit anything from beefed-up rock sounds and warm leads to sparkling cleans. What's particularly interesting for beginners is that poplar body, which is a tad slimmer and lighter than a standard Fender Stratocaster.
