General

With the Tortoise, Fazley expand the Sunset Series with a style-packed semi-acoustic guitar kitted out with a comfy thinline and hollow poplar body complete with vintage-style f-holes. This model takes its name from the pre-mounted faux-tortoiseshell pickguard which, combined with the fresh paintwork, strikes a stunning colour contrast. The Fazley Tortoise semi-acoustic electric guitar comes complete with a form-fitting gig bag.

The Fazley Sunset Series Tortoise: Articulate Sound

Fazley have loaded the Tortoise with a passive single-coil pickup at the bridge and a throwback lipstick pickup at the neck, completing a classic combo that spits broad range, bright, defined and deliciously twangy sound. Boasting high-grade specs, the Canadian maple neck has been roasted to boost stability and comes topped with a Graph Tech TUSQ nut to guarantee outstanding resonance, while smooth and light playability is assured by a 12 inch fretboard radius and a full set of twenty-one medium frets.

These guitars are amazing value for money well made and only a slight adjustment on one of the string saddles to make it play like a guitar costing a lot more money.

Prachtige gitaar met een mooi geluid en goede bespeelbaarheid. De actie was voor mij wat te hoog, maar kan redelijk vlot ingesteld worden (de truss rod is wel heel stroef). Stemmechanieken en bedieningsknoppen zijn oké voor de prijs en de Wilkinson brug is beter dan wat doorgaans geboden wordt. De hals/toets verdient een opkuisbeurt, maar is voor de rest uitstekend: mooi om te zien, voelt geweldig aan en speelt heel soepel. De meegeleverde snaren kan je best vervangen, maar dat is ook bij veel nieuw gekochte duurdere gitaren vaak het geval. De gigbag is een leuke extra, maar liever dan dat had ik een betere kwaliteitscontrole gezien: op de bovenzijde van de hals is er een lichte beschadiging door een foute plaatsing van de positiemarkering, wat op zich geen enkele invloed heeft op de bespeelbaarheid maar wel een vervelend schoonheidsfoutje is... Heel jammer, daarom een (half) sterretje minder dan de vijf sterren die deze mooie gitaar in se verdient. Een pluim voor de snelle levering en voor de attente reactie van Bax Music in verband met de schade aan de gitaarhals.
